Europe's AI autumn: from Paris and Lisbon via Vienna and Hamburg to Amsterdam

Issue 04 follows Europe's AI autumn across five very different formats: the engineering conference dotAI in Paris, the decentralised Lisbon AI Week, the three-day AI Superevent in Vienna, the neo summit 26 for the events industry in Hamburg and the anniversary World Summit AI in Amsterdam — plus an AI ticker on the release wave around GPT-6 Astra, Gemini 3.8 Flash and Claude Fable 5.1, and on the EU AI Act's new enforcement powers.

While the model labs outbid one another in a release wave — within a single week Anthropic (Claude Fable 5.1), OpenAI (GPT-6 Astra) and Google (Gemini 3.8 Flash) pushed out new versions, with the trade press already calling it "model fatigue" — the real work is moving onto the stages: how do agents become productive, who is liable, and what actually pays off? These are the questions running through Europe's AI autumn.

Issue 04 picks up five dates over the next four weeks and shows how differently Europe looks for answers: a curated engineering stage in Paris, a decentralised community week in Lisbon, a hands-on three-day format in Vienna, an industry conference for event professionals in Hamburg — and finally the tenth World Summit AI in Amsterdam. Every fact comes from the official event pages; organiser figures are flagged as such.

dotAI Paris — one stage, 20-minute talks, no sponsor slots

· Paris, France · Folies Bergère

On 17 September, dotConferences turns the Folies Bergère theatre in Paris into a pure engineering stage for a day: curated 20-minute talks, live Q&As and 1:1 speaker meetups instead of paid programme slots. The audience, the organisers say, is around 1,000 "AI builders" — developers and researchers who actually ship.

The speaker list reads like a cross-section of today's agent and model scene: Stanislas Polu (Dust, ex-OpenAI), Ian Massingham (Anthropic), Guillaume Vernade (Google DeepMind), Christian Keller (Meta Superintelligence Labs) and several voices from Mistral AI and Hugging Face. As a companion event, the JavaScript conference dotJS follows on 18 September in the same venue.

Speaker highlights

  • Stanislas Polu — Co-Founder, Dust (ex-OpenAI)
  • Ian Massingham — Head of Applied AI EMEA Startups, Anthropic
  • Guillaume Vernade — Senior Developer Advocate, Google DeepMind
  • Christian Keller — Product Lead AI Research, Meta Superintelligence Labs
  • Joffrey Thomas — Developer Relations, Mistral AI

Lisbon AI Week — one week, no headliner, dozens of community events

· Lisbon, Portugal

From 21 to 27 September, Lisbon deliberately does without a central hall or a headliner: Lisbon AI Week spreads dozens of community-run events across the whole city — from hackathons (AI Hacker House, the legaltech hackathon PAXFORGE, a vibe-coding format) through workshops and panels to demo nights, an outdoor cinema and a casual 5K run. Most sessions are free, some ticketed, all open.

The week is carried by a broad network of partners: Cerebras, OpenAI, the Nova School of Business and Economics, Feedzai, Critical Software, the Cascais AI Hub and Mindstone among them. Venues range from the Centro Champalimaud and the IDEA Spaces to Cascais and Caparica — a format that showcases a city's ecosystem rather than a single stage.

AI Superevent Vienna — three days of practice on a single stage

· Vienna, Austria · ARIANA Eventlocation

The AI Training Institute invites attendees to the ARIANA event location in Vienna from 25 to 27 September — deliberately without parallel sessions: one stage, three days, a single narrative thread. Friday centres on AI in the enterprise with customer showcases and voicebot cases, Saturday on AI and desktop agents, Sunday on multimodal AI and the closing keynote.

Speakers include Sebastian Podesser (thirdmind, author of "Prompt Design"), keynote speaker Roger Basler de Roca, institute founder Raphael Schaad and responsible-AI voice Marit Brademann. Hands-on workshops on story branding, negotiation and AI image/video generation round out the programme; the three-day ticket costs €497 at the "Normal" tier according to the organiser and includes a networking app and personalised agenda.

Speaker highlights

  • Sebastian Podesser — Co-Founder, thirdmind (Autor „Prompt Design“)
  • Roger Basler de Roca — Digital Entrepreneur & Keynote Speaker
  • Raphael Schaad — Founder, AI Training Institute
  • Marit Brademann — Soziologin & Philosophin, Responsible AI

neo summit 26 — the AI conference for the events industry

· Hamburg, Germany · Hamburg Messe, Halle A2

On 6 and 7 October, Ebner Media Group fills Hall A2 of Hamburg Messe with a format you rarely see: an AI conference built specifically for event professionals. Held as part of LEaT con, it covers AI transformation in event management, event data, experience design, leadership and new business models — with a main stage, workshops, an expo area and networking.

The neo summit targets agencies, corporate planners, MICE managers and technology providers looking for concrete use cases rather than debates of principle. Tickets start at €349 (Young Professional) and €399 (Conference Pass) according to the organiser; both include two days of programming, workshops, networking and catering. The date is set and the programme keeps growing.

World Summit AI — the tenth edition at Taets Art & Event Park

· Amsterdam, Netherlands · Taets Art & Event Park

To close the autumn arc, World Summit AI marks its tenth edition on 7 and 8 October at the Taets Art & Event Park near Amsterdam. Organiser Inspired Minds cites 300+ speakers across 10 tracks, more than 10,000 expected attendees and 100+ exhibitors — one of Europe's largest AI summits.

The keynote line-up is suitably high-profile: Daphne Koller (insitro), Zico Kolter (Gray Swan AI, OpenAI board), Harrison Chase (LangChain), Mark Papermaster (AMD) and Audrey Tang (Taiwan's cyber ambassador) are representative. Around it, World AI Week spans 100+ side events, a Startup Battleground, an Investor Club and AI Executive Dinners — network density rather than a single stage.

Speaker highlights

  • Daphne Koller — Founder & CEO, insitro
  • Zico Kolter — Chief Scientist, Gray Swan AI (OpenAI-Board)
  • Harrison Chase — Co-Founder & CEO, LangChain
  • Mark Papermaster — CTO & EVP, AMD
  • Audrey Tang — Cyber Ambassador, Regierung von Taiwan

AI ticker: release wave, "model fatigue" and the AI Act's enforcement

September opened with a concentrated release wave: Anthropic shipped Claude Fable 5.1 (and Mythos 5.1) early in the month, OpenAI countered with GPT-6 Astra (around 1M tokens of context and 128K output, per the provider), and Google followed with Gemini 3.8 Flash. The cadence is now so high that CNBC already speaks of "model fatigue" — the models are barely the story anymore; deployment is.

At the same time, Europe's regulation is growing teeth: since 2 August 2026 the AI Office can supervise GPAI providers — evaluate models before their EU release, request technical documentation, restrict market access and impose fines of up to €15M or 3% of annual turnover. For providers like OpenAI, Anthropic and Google, the pressure to robustly demonstrate transparency, copyright and safety obligations rises accordingly.

Both explain why the AI autumn is so agent-heavy: in Paris engineers build, in Vienna three days centre on desktop agents, and in Amsterdam agent and governance tracks fill the stages. Anyone who wants to experience the dates live will find every curated AI event with date, venue and registration link on aieventlist.ai — the next issue follows in about a week.
